Like all N. Sparks book the characters are loveable and flawed. Filled with joy, sorrow and hope; guaranteed to bring a tear or two. Highly recommend.
This love story is so incredible and heartbreaking. I don’t think I’ve cried so much over a book

Unremarkable and boringly predictable.
Also very much not a fan of the values it reflects and the institutions it cherishes - very American in all the bad ways.
For instance:
- Adoption as a heart-warming remedy to teenage pregnancies
- The American military is presented as something perfect people aspire to join and a purpose in life
- Characters are constantly going to church, praying, or working for the church
- Brands everywhere - starting page one you're bombarded with American product placements ruining any illusion of timelessness
- Love is described and experienced as attraction to physical attributes an awful lot
2.5/5.0
(rounded up because I'm grateful it wasn't any longer)

Such a sweet sweet story. I am glad I didn't read this around the holidays though, I probably would have been more saddened.
