This book caught my attention because of the setting (living in NC I do appreciate books that incorporate local imagery/culture/history) and the potential- I guess I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about with this author too. A little too cheesy and immature for my taste but I guess I should have expected that cause I am not really into this kind of romance genre. All in all, a beautiful storyline, well written, well developed characters. I do like the balance of realism with “this would never happen in real life.” Sparks fans will probably adore this but it wasn’t really my jam. I think I would probably have liked it more when I was a teenager. Probably an unpopular opinion but w/e.

Okay….. 3.75/5 but I feel bad rating as a 3 star bc of all the DEATH. (The characters deserve better

Another well-told love story from one of my favorite authors! This one was a little hard to relate to because it was mostly a teen romance. I still love the way he shows the little ways that two characters fall in love. The setting was peaceful. Definitely read this if you are looking to be swept away into a love story but be warned there may be some tears along the way. I was the lucky recipient of this book in a goodreads giveaway!

A lot of unforgivable crimes in this book but overall, it's an okay story. If they made a movie, it would probably make me cry.

This book took very long to capture your attention. By the time I was hooked on to anything I had lost hope in finishing it.

Thank you Mr. Sparks for another splendid novel full of emotion and waterworks to boot.

Slow and tedious. EXTREMELY predictable. Also not sure the realism behind such a high school romance? The author does do a good job with getting the reader comfortable with the characters (the slow and tediousness at the beginning) and playing with emotions at the end.
