Summer of Rom-Coms Read

This was a sweet mildly grumpy/sunshine rom-com with some You’ve Got Mail vibes.
I enjoyed the slow burn relationship between Evie and Owen and the growth of their characters as they get to know each other and heal from past hurts.

While the romance between them is enjoyable the best part of this book is the relationship between Owen, Evie and Evie’s elderly neighbour Gordon.
The prank war is the cutest and funniest parts of this book.

This is part of the Love,Austen series but can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any of the past books and while a lot of other characters are present I didn’t feel confused or missing out on information.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this novel. All opinions are my own.

Main Characters: Evie & Owen

This is one of the cleanest romances I have ever read. It was such a refreshing read after reading a horror novel. I really enjoyed the honesty of Evie and Owen on why they werent seeing anyone. Even though Owen was a grunoy pants he had good reason, but push comes to shove and you have to move on.

I had so much joy seeing that the prank wars between Evies house and Gordon brought so many laughs and smiles between the two homes. Owen was such a sweet man who came to care for Gordon like a grandfather or father figure. He was able to see what it was like after so many years.

I wish there would have been more going on in the in between for Evie and Owen. What was there was good but I feek like there could have been more substance than just tip toeing around each other. I think that has a lot to do with the plot not being fully developed. I think there could have been more details on the pieces that Evie was working on to bring her work to life. More than just a couple of examples.

I absolutely unequivocally appreciate the including of a chronic illness such as Multiple Sclerosis. I have MS and not everyone has the same journey, but I'm so happy to see more inclusion of chronic illness. With that being said I think there could have been more included on what it was and how she was tested for it. There is Soo much more to getting a diagnosis and treatment than a mention of it being done.
