I really love how she writes a complex character and shows relationships closer to daily life than anyone else I read. Real characters even when they are also fairytales

Nate and Marcos meet at a party, and in just seventeen minutes, everything begins to shift between them. Nate is determined to break through Marcos’s walls of anxiety and self-doubt, proving that love doesn’t require perfection—just the willingness to try.
These two made my heart ache in the best way. Marcos, with his touch aversion and crushing self-doubt, and Nate, the golden retriever of love interests—so warm, open, and unwavering in his care—are the perfect balance of healing and hope. The story is low angst but gently explores the emotional fallout from what happened to Max in a previous book and how it shaped Marcos’s struggles, especially in their codependent friendship. Bonus points for the sweet cameos from Max and Luke, who I absolutely loved seeing again.

This one was cute, and started off as one of my favorites of the series—but for some reason, I felt like the pacing was a little weird, and found it a bit hard to stay focused on the story come 50% of it.
Still, it was fun reading Marcos’ and Nate’s story!

I loved Nate. He was so understanding and patient with Marcos. Nate and Mickey's friendship was so sweet. (I really hope book 5 is Mickey.) I wish the time jumps throughout the book should have been more cleanly defined, but I did like how long it from them to get together. The trust was built over time, and it was nice to see Nate waiting for Marcos to be ready for a relationship. My favorite part was the last third of the book at the ranch. I loved country boy Nate and Marcos learning to love the horses.
I devoured this whole series in about a week. I loved the series over all. I wish we got better epilogues for each couple, but it was nice to see the couples in other books.

This book is definitely a favorite of mine. I loved all the characters and it was nice seeing ones from previous books. When I realized this book starts around the same time as Save the Game, it clicked that it was going to be a slow burn. It's been a while since I read a novel and not novellas so this was a great start to get back into longer books.
