Entertaining mystery book. Its very busy with backstory and then goes explantations with the magic system that goes with this world with the use of Greek and Egyptian gods. The FMC is entertaining to read the overall plot is driving forward. Good story. The narrator is entertaining. There isn't that many voices but it's still easy enough to pick out who is who.

Thank you net galley for the arc for my honest review.
Descendants from Greek Gods, some of the characters are born with special abilities. Some can cause fear, some can influence dreams, and some can see where you have been and where you are going. Our three main sisters are fates, or moirai born, are the spinner, the drawer, and the cutter. We follow Io, the youngest, the cutter.
I am in love! This book blew me away! I cannot wait to read more. I hope the author continues to expand on the world she built. They mention other areas with similar powers and it would be neat to see those come into the story.
It definitely reads as young adult, but I didn't mind with how intrigued I was reading this. Very well thought out background and characters. The fated thread concept was cute though it kept being a downer for Io for a while. It does bring up the interesting contrast of fate verses decision.
I'm interested to see where this goes. I went in under the impression it was a stand alone but I'm happy to see more.

Oh this book got me good. The dystopian, mythology, and mystery had me at the edge of my seat. I don't know if I have ever been this excited to read the next book in a series. Bring it on!!
“She was free now. To love. To get hurt. To stitch herself back together. To love again, without guilt, and, one day, be loved in return.”
Once again, I fell victim to my own stupidity by avoiding a popular book. Even the premise of a mythological retelling was not enough to sway my decision, until I decided to just try it. One of the best choices I’ve ever made.
This was such an intricate retelling of so many different Greek myths, focusing on the descendants of the fates, the Ora sisters. Io, our main character, has the ability to cut people’s threads, which she uses in her career as a private investigator. This leads her into a tangled web of secrets and lies across the city, working with the Mob (and the boy she shares a fate thread with).
The twists, turns and tangled are intricately weaved throughout the entire narrative and left me wanting so, so much more. When I reached the end and just wanted to dive straight back in. The complex retelling and restructuring of mythology is intricately carved and beautifully written.
I am so looking forward to the sequel coming out later this year. I encourage anyone who is yet to read it, what are you waiting for!?
“If she loved something, even for a minute, like the fish noodles at the market stall or the teacher who'd smiled at her last week, she held on to that love with tooth and claw. Most threads frayed over time and distance, but never Io's. Her love was evergreen.”
