An enjoyable read and a solid debut by the author. I enjoyed the premise and found the magic system interesting; I would’ve like to see the world-building expanded on a bit more (perhaps it will be in the sequel). The romance was very YA-tropey, but wasn’t the focus of the book. The mystery was OK - some aspects of it were obvious quite early on, but it was layered enough to still leave other questions remaining until the third act.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book (a copy gratefully received from NetGalley). The combination of abilities linked to the old gods, the futuristic setting and the relationships amongst the main characters had me hooked throughout. There was plenty of action to keep the plot moving and I’ll definitely be getting the next book in the series.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I really enjoyed it, I loved the different link to greek mythology and the intriguing magic system related to them. I found the characters to be realistic, complex and lovable. There were many times that I wasn't sure about the true motives of them. The criminal underground theme in the story was really well done and the politics of the relationship with the police interesting too. The ending was very action packed and I looking forward to the next book!
