I charged readily from 'The Blade Itself' and into 'Before They Are Hanged', maintaining the momentum so well built in the former and letting it carry me rushing through the latter.

Glokta's narrative still interests me the most - that of intrigue and investigation in the South. The questing of Bayaz, Quai, Logen, Ferro, Jezal, and Longfoot to the edge of the world is a good counterbalance with its generally slower pacing. And while West's war waging itself isn't terribly engaging, it's very enjoyable following Dogman and the rest of Logen's old crew as they struggle and skirmish in the North.

There's a heap of character development in this novel, which I won't discuss for fear of spoilers, though I'm mighty glad to see it. I dislike Jezal much less now, in particular, which is a relief.

I expect grand things from the final instalment in this trilogy, and I'll start in on it all but immediately.

ok !!! i am putting jezal and logen and ferro and west and glokta and ardee all in my jar for safekeeping but it would actually end in a bloodbath so maybe not just know i love them all dearly

Abercrombie is fantastic at writing characters, dialogue and descriptions. Very funny and easy to follow along.
My favorite characters are definitely Glokta and Ferro.

My 1 complaint is the plot. At this point I think it is just my personal taste, but I wish there was more to it. Still I think this is a very good book

I really liked it, basically an overall improvement on the first in every aspect. Character development was great, plot is moving along at a really solid pace as well. When reading fantasy I feel like it is always hard to keep up with or be interested in every character that is introduced but so far every character has an aspect to them that makes me want to keep reading. I am not a fan of sex scenes in any media really and there were some present here, probably the only thing I did not like about the book. 9/10 very swag if I wasn't dying while typing this I would have already started the next one which hopefully lives up to my expectations so far.
