Similar to the 1st book, this one continues with excellent character writing but not as much in the plot department. All in all, I found the Dagoska sections most compelling, followed by the northern sections. Many similar complaints from the first book carry on for this one, but it does not have the novelty aspect. This feels like a middle book in a trilogy for sure.
The thread following our 3 big POV characters to the edge of the world was frustrating. Making the whole journey for no reward frankly sucked. However, the journey had many memorable sequences and character moments. The shanka fight was extremely good. So there were high highs and low lows.
I am hoping that Abercrombie will correctly wrap up all of these threads in book 3. I do feel that saving almost all of the payoff for the end of the trilogy is unsatisfactory. If I wasn't binging these I may have a lower opinion of them.

Pocas veces reseño dos libros de una misma saga de forma seguida. Pero en esta ocasión tenía que hacerlo. No quería que pasara más tiempo sin decir: ¡¡Este libro es espectacular!!!
(Ya… uff… necesitaba desahogarme).
Cuando terminé el primer libro quedé conforme con lo que había leído, pero sentí que había algo que faltaba. Pero ahora todo fue distinto. Desde el comienzo la historia tiene mucha fuerza. La trama de cada personaje está mejor definida, lo que me ayudó a entender de mejor forma para donde iba la historia. Muchos misterios comienzan a ser explicados y obviamente surgen nuevos conflictos por resolver. Pero lo que me gustó por sobre todo es que es un libro demasiado entretenido.
No hablaré sobre la historia para evitar spoilers del primer libro. Lo que diré es que leer “antes de que los cuelguen” me hizo recordar grandes autores del género. Por momentos sentí que tenía toques de Tolkien cuando los personajes visitaban grandes ciudades, ruinas olvidadas o se describe algún paisaje increíble; así como también de George R. R. Martín, cuando su trama política y bélica cobraba vital importancia. Todo está muy bien armado. Pero además tiene un ritmo excelente. Me gustó como Abercrombie maneja los tiempos. Es casi imposible aburrirse ya que pasan muchas cosas y cualquier momento de paz puede transformarse en dos segundos en una sangrienta batalla con cabezas rodando (literalmente).
Sin duda este segundo libro me gustó más que el primero. Lo disfruté totalmente. Aquí hay fantasía que engancha, evoluciona y que me hizo vibrar.
PD. Eso si, Mr. Joe Abercrombie, hay un tema con un caballito que no me gustó, pero entiendo el contexto y lo dejaré pasar.
