Well, that only took a day. What a fantastic set of characters, and such wit. I literally cackled multiple times. That being said, I’m getting this creeping feeling of dread going into the third book….
People love to see death. It reminds them that however mean, however low, however horrible their lives become… at least they have one.
This was as exceptional as the first volume, focused on the characters journey and their interactions. Cannot wait to read the final one!

Слагам максимална оценка, защото преживяването си го биваше. Въпреки, че се подразних леко накрая, това не помрачи цялостното ми виждане за книгата. Като взема предвид и това, че трилогията е дебют на Абъркромби, смятам че същия се справил доста добре раздвижвайки статуквото в повечето фентъзита. Пък и нещото, което е от особена важност за едно такова произведение като това са именно персонажите, а неговите пръскат! Несъвършени, самоиронизиращи се, дразнещи, истински! От километри личи желанието за излизане от клишето на идеализирания герой и все пак не е пресолил супата. Четох с интерес през цялото време и искрено се забавлявах в компанията им. Да видим нататък…

Definitely better than book 1 - more plot focused with artfully written action scenes. The character development from book 1 paid dividends in book 2.

I'm really liking this trilogy. Book 2 doesn't suffer from 'middle child syndrome' as much as other middle books that I've read in the past. I like the varied viewpoints and how the characters are developing. Superior Glokta is a torturer and continues to do horrible things, but I even like his introspective sarcastic humor.
