My god, another book filled with annoying characters. Heather and Dave (and eventually the Mom too) were all so annoying and in case of Dave and Mom so stupid and didn't want to look further than the obvious thing is that Michael and Molly are fault at everything. And Heather, well that was some sick, pathetic evil girl. :\ I know she lost her mom in a fire, and she is only 7, but still no reason to act like this.

The story was an interesting one, so 2 stars just for that. But -3 stars for the annoying characters.

Read for mother-daughter book club (5th grade). I'm not a fan of ghost stories, and this one didn't seem like anything special, except that I suppose it was pretty age-appropriate (elementary) on the creepy scale. The writing isn't very sophisticated, even given the audience.

Still chilling and fun after all these years! My 9-year-old couldn't wait to read the next chapter.
