This was a fascinating story to me. I have spent much of my life craving the freedom of anonymity that Addie experiences. I was eventually blessed by becoming a true part of a community and understanding that the awkward that comes with connection is well worth the joy. This story finds the same truth.

I really struggled to get through this book. On the positive side, it was beautifully written and I found the concept of Addie being “invisible” and immortal both tragic and interesting. Besides that, it was almost a DNF for me cause I just didn’t want to pick it back up.

I found Addie and Henry pretty insufferable and their romance lacking any substance, passion, or interesting conflict or adventure. I was actually way more into the story with Luc and seeing Addie experience different historical events, and I wish we had gotten to see more of that.

Switching to the audiobook got me over the hump of this book, so I do recommend that because it translates really nicely to audio.
