I haaaaate this story trope.
The character who goes off in their own and does stupid and dangerous stuff because they think they’re protecting others but really they’re just endangering themselves AND the people they pretend to protect. They’re such selfless martyrs. 🙄
And, COME ON, a cop is doing all this, on her own, and no one has any idea. Much less murders someone who was high profile? They’re just like “oh swell, seems your violent stalker with a false identify who was also involved in a store shooting, just decided to stop. Cool! We’ll just forget about it!”
Her partner doesn’t question the multiple missed calls when she was trying to warn him including the voicemails she leaves with her screaming to turn around? He just believes her that she was just “following a tip about a truck.” And her husband and the cops on watch just shrug their shoulders about her dramatic exit when they couldn’t reach her? Sure. Totally makes sense.
There were also these differing timelines? They seemed to be working at the same time but then we’re realizing the body they found was the stalker that she killed at the end of the book but the info they were working with seemed to be ongoing info from the active investigation? And it’s not really revealed until later so you can’t remedy these timelines.
When I watch movies like this I’m rolling my eyes and yelling at the screen.
This wasn’t a long audiobook but it seemed so much longer and not in a good way because I was annoyed.
