Beautiful story, beautiful message. There truly isn't much to say about this book, in a good way! It's such a heartwarming story with characters who you just want to give a hug or be friends with. The reason why I gave it a 3.75 stars is mostly because of the ending. In my opinion, the ending of a story makes or breaks the book. In this case it slightly broke it. It was a very joyful and happy ending but that's the problem. It just wasn't realistic at all. Not because it has a very happy ending, but the way that the ending turns out. I'm not spoiling anything and the ending isn't what I'm about to make it sound like but strangers don't just willingly do what they did for Mia and her parents out of kindness, even if like in this case, there is something in it for them.
Honestly a great book with a wonderful message. I love how it manages to properly talk about racism but in a way that is still sensitive and younger readers can understand (around middle school age). I would have gave it 4 stars if maybe the ending happened for a bit longer (in terms of pages and the time in the book)
