I made the mistake to think it was a good idea to finish this book after 3hrs of sleep, a very, very rough week, on the bus, on my my way to work

I'm a complete mess and have to get through the day but I NEED TO PROCESS THIS

Joe... Ox.... STUPID CARTER

God Carter, make up your mind! do you want to sleep with your dad? your brother? or a literal wolf? trick question. Based on the writing it’s all 3 at the same time

I feel like maybe I was expecting a little too much from this book, and that's why I feel somewhat disappointed now. Green Creek was such a special series of books for me that, for the "big finale", I guess I was hoping for something more. Something that made me cry and scream and just annoy the hell out of my friends with tons of texts whining about how one of my favorite series of all times just ended and all that. Instead, it kinda felt like the final episode of a brazilian Soap Opera, where everything is fine, everyone is happy and the big villain is defeated rather quickly in the end. Or maybe I'm just broken inside and was hoping for a little more angst before everything turned out okay because there's something wrong with me, I don't know.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but not as much as I thought I would. Gavin and Carter were absolutely adorable when they were together, but I wish there was more about them and their relationship. It was as if, between wraping the series and giving everyone their (deserved) "happy endings", Gavin was a little forgotten, a little left out. "Undeveloped", I'd say. When I finally closed the book, he still felt like a stranger to me; as if five hundred pages were still not enough for me to get to know him and his story.

All in all, I gave this book 4 stars because I couldn't bring myself to actually give it 3.5 stars. I loved the whole series so much it broke my heart to finally read Brothersong and not enjoy it as much as I did with the other books. Generally speaking , Brothersong is a good book and, like the title suggests, explores Carter's relationship with his brothers (and with the rest of the pack) very well. The sweet little moments Gavin and Carter share together are heartwarming, but what I liked the most was to see how Gavin's relationship with the rest of the pack unfolded. It honestly made me feel all mushy inside.

I read the whole book in one day so maybe I'll pick it up again in the future and change my opinion about it. However, for the time being, I still belive Brothersong is the weakest book in the Green Creek series. Unfortunately.
