I feel like maybe I was expecting a little too much from this book, and that's why I feel somewhat disappointed now. Green Creek was such a special series of books for me that, for the "big finale", I guess I was hoping for something more. Something that made me cry and scream and just annoy the hell out of my friends with tons of texts whining about how one of my favorite series of all times just ended and all that. Instead, it kinda felt like the final episode of a brazilian Soap Opera, where everything is fine, everyone is happy and the big villain is defeated rather quickly in the end. Or maybe I'm just broken inside and was hoping for a little more angst before everything turned out okay because there's something wrong with me, I don't know.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but not as much as I thought I would. Gavin and Carter were absolutely adorable when they were together, but I wish there was more about them and their relationship. It was as if, between wraping the series and giving everyone their (deserved) "happy endings", Gavin was a little forgotten, a little left out. "Undeveloped", I'd say. When I finally closed the book, he still felt like a stranger to me; as if five hundred pages were still not enough for me to get to know him and his story.

All in all, I gave this book 4 stars because I couldn't bring myself to actually give it 3.5 stars. I loved the whole series so much it broke my heart to finally read Brothersong and not enjoy it as much as I did with the other books. Generally speaking , Brothersong is a good book and, like the title suggests, explores Carter's relationship with his brothers (and with the rest of the pack) very well. The sweet little moments Gavin and Carter share together are heartwarming, but what I liked the most was to see how Gavin's relationship with the rest of the pack unfolded. It honestly made me feel all mushy inside.

I read the whole book in one day so maybe I'll pick it up again in the future and change my opinion about it. However, for the time being, I still belive Brothersong is the weakest book in the Green Creek series. Unfortunately.

4.5 stars rounding down.

Maybe I should have distanced my listening to [b:Heartsong|176408159|Heartsong (Green Creek, #3)|T.J. Klune|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1686480838l/176408159._SY75_.jpg|61798790] and this one seeing as they were both 18 and 19hr audiobooks, because of what I can only describe as listening fatigue. And I think feeling like that, needing for the story to progress, to move on, to finally reach the conclusion, simply for reasons that I needed to see what will happen between Gavin and Carter, needing to see how everything will conclude with Livingstone senior, affected how I felt and rate this final installment.

Carter's chasing of Gavin, slowly falling off the wagon, turning feral and omega, then finding him and going round and round in circles of "come home with me" and "no I won't, I can't" took a toll on me, frustrating me with the story.

Then there was Carter's and Kelly's relationship, that I'm sorry but at times it... made me uncomfortable. Really I don't think it could have taken much to turn this into a taboo story. Especially Carter's side felt anything but healthy.

Overall this was a pretty good resolution to a series, although the main MCs as a couple didn't got much page time AS a couple. Once they reached a certain point, all hell broke loose and then it was about that and how things resolved.

And I really need an almost novella length epilogue but we barely got any epilogue and it was about "the Alpha of All".

Btw since I mentioned the Alpha of All, I really think that that role SUCKS! And nothing made it suck more than the packs in Caswell because EF those guys! They hoisted every responsibility and obligation to the AoA and demanded accountability while hiding behind their fingers when it came to their actions.

Anyways, as a series it was pretty great just space out the books/audios pretty heavily, like do 1 per month else the events that overall will tire you out.
