Um... what the crap? Did those people with five star reviews read the same book that I did?

I understand that it was written before I was born, but I thought manners and social graces were ingrained in small children, especially those from wealthy families.

Eloise’s behavior is appalling and not something to be celebrated. I can’t get past Eloise’s rude mockery towards Philip, her tutor.

2.5 stars. Not what I expected. At times it was fun, at times it was not so much. Eloise was quite a brat, annoying as hell, spoiled to death. Not to mention I don't need to see kids in their underwear, or naked. Thank you.
The illustrations were pretty decent, I liked how they only used red and black/white. Sometimes the illustrations weren't too good, and again, no need to show us Eloise underpants that much.
The hotel sounded interesting.

This was a very endearing and real portrayal of a very self-indulged and bratty little girl. I, in parts, loved it and then, wanted to discipline her and tell her mother to come home and pay attention to her daughter. :)

This was incredibly cute and a fun break from my normal reads. I didn't grow up with Eloise as part of my library, but I definitely see why it's considered a classic.

One of my favorite precocious female protagonists. Eloise is unstoppable and hilarious!

Cute & fun with a very adventurous 6 year old.  When she is engaged in all of these shinnanigans,  where is Nanny?
