I enjoyed this book, but it moved a bit slowly for me. I really loved the heroine; Charlotte is a wonderful character who is passionately committed to her ideals. I liked the hero, Lucas, and his obvious respect for Charlotte. Obviously, he loved her--it is a romance, after all--but he respected her intelligence, her mathematical talent, and her social graces. I don't always see that that type of respect in a romance novel, and I appreciate it very much. I do feel the pacing was off; the story dragged at times, particularly the villain subplot. It was quite obvious to me early on what his deal was, and I resented that much time being spent on that character--he was just not very interesting. Overall though, I enjoyed this book and am glad I read it. I have not read other books in this series and plan on going back and checking them out.

Ugh. Wanted to like this so much more, but there was something about Charlotte and Lucas Sherbourne’s relationship that kept taking me out of the story. 1.5 stars, rounding up to be more generous

Of all the husbands of the four Wyndham sisters, I have to say I like Lucas the best. Hamish and Colin come next, and Julian last. Charlotte was annoying in spots, but not enough to become irritating. A great end to the series!

This was a satisfying conclusion to the Windham Brides series. I’m not sure if I’ll ever go back and reread the series, but I grew to like Lucas a surprising amount and enjoyed his dynamic with Charlotte. I found it very helpful to know the back story from No Other Duke Will Do especially to provide the context of the mine as well as Julian’s relationship with Lucas. It helped make the character development arc for Lucas much more enjoyable.

I haven't read anything else in this series, or the one it was spun off from -- it caught my eye when I was skimming what was currently available amongst my library's ebook offerings looking for a light, which read. This fits the bill, though I was a little disappointed by (minor)

I wanted to like this one more, but I it felt like to romance between Lucas and Charlotte was missing something. I love a good marriage of convenience, but this one fell flat for me.

This is one of Burrowes' more recent books, and I think that she is getting better at keeping the relevant information and characters within a series. I like how in this book we see some of the flaws of the main characters of the previous book. Because Lucas and Charlotte don't believe in the social system, and there is plenty of reason for that, I don't like that he was rewarded with a baronetcy. Their happily ever after is not dependent on approval from the social system, and by giving it to them at the end it muddies the waters.
