I did not expect to fall in love with this book the way I did. Sometimes its passages were like a whisper or a caress and sometimes they were like a sucker punch but they were always intensely evocative. The story knitted itself from fragments of the past and the present, the way our lives and histories are formed from the moments that linger and inform one another and make us who we become.

En otroligt tunn bok som tog sjukt lång tid att läsa! Trots dess korta kapitel, på en halv till en sida, tog de lång tid att läsa. Allt berör, vart enda ord. Boken är så himla fin, beskriver en flickas, en familj, en släkts och ett lands påverkan och flykt från kriget i Vietnamn. Jag vill suga i mig vart enda ord som verkar vara noga utvalt. Inga ord är överflödiga. Därför att det en viss sorg när boken bleknar snabbare än snabbast i mitt minne. Så kontentan blir en fin och berörande bok som lever kvar för stunden.
