A succumbed to this books popularity and should have known better. I thought Addie La Rue was just okay and I feel the exact same about this book.

I suppose to make Alice more real all the flash backs with her sister were added but I didn't feel they were necessary or added anything to the story and I felt her character suddenly changed at the end with no good reason. So maybe I thought this was actually less than okay now that I'm thinking about it.

This book is the perfect mystery dark thriller. The gore is light but the depth of detail and world building is incredible. Hats off to VE Schwab

Schwab you have delivered your BEST ONE YET! I adored this.

If you're reading a Schwab book, you know the writing is gonna be excellent but boy did she deliver with the deliciously dark plot of this one. Toxic Lesbian Vampires is an UNDERSTATEMENT.

SORRY IM USING SO MANY CAPS.

If you loved Addie, this one is for you - and I realllllly hope she does more within this 'universe' - for me it has traces of Holly Black's darker books. I really enjoyed her twist on vampire lore, the way that feeding made them feel alive again and their interaction with 'claiming space' was fascinating.

Anyway, it's great, you should read it.
