What a disappointment. This book felt like edging in the worst way, and the end was very lazy and unsatisfying to me. I loved Addie LaRue and so I read this book with a friend. It feels like a hollow shell of what the author achieved with Addie LaRue. I’m not gonna come on here and say that this book is absolutely terrible, but it was definitely lacking in plot and somehow all of the characters were so unlikable throughout the entire book that it didn’t redeem itself for me. The writing is style is very descriptive and that hold merit in itself. I just kept waiting for SOMETHING to happen. If I was Alice, I would have BEAT LOTTIE’S ASS telling me that long winded boring ass story. I will not be recommending this book because it sounds way more fun than it is. I head “lesbian vampires” and that was enough for me to read, but it was so lame lol
PS
Alice’s sister was a bitch and I hated hearing about her sorry not sorry

This book lacked personality for the main characters and a plot. I just didn't like it and couldn't get myself to continue reading. The absence of an engaging story and the lack of a point of conflict meant that you aimlessly wander around in a story with unlikable characters and side characters that are interesting but die. You could write unlikable or horrible characters and at the same time give them an interesting story, just look at certain side characters.

It was a bit slow and dragged out at some points. It wasn’t until the end that I felt the need to keep picking the book up to finish. I enjoyed it

V.E. Schwab’s major foray into the vampire underworld with her signature style was a bloody, emotional, and seductive tale of choices and their consequences. Maria, Lottie, and Alice are young women separated by centuries, cultures, and circumstances but united in being hungry for more. I love a good story that spans centuries seeing the changes of the world through the eyes of immortal characters. I also love a story about women being their beautiful, flawed, powerful, world-ending, and life-giving selves.
