I loved the film, so I was excited to read the book it was based on. The book has a much darker tone than the movie. Hard to read at parts but still kept me engaged.

I hate to admit it, but this might be one of the rare instances where I enjoyed the movie more than the book...

Election is an entertaining dark comedy told in an easygoing and appealing way. This book was the basis of the movie with the same name starring Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon. I enjoyed the movie and liked the book better. The book differs from the movie in ways but the movie really was cast well to match the literary characters. Perrotta is a fine storyteller with a comforting literary voice. This story of a high school student body election told from the perspectives of teachers and student candidates is a fine quick read.

A quick enjoyable read. Very quirky but perfect for the mood I was in.
