It’s official ladies. I have a new entry in my top 10 books of all time! Rip to The Princess Bride which has been officially ousted.
Reading this book felt like I was reading something written just for me, as if I were the eccentric billionaire and had commissioned a book to be written that includes anything and everything I hold dear.
The vibes were everything I desire from a story. Spooky and mysterious, but scandalous and flashy.
The 3 main characters are a goth, a gay, and a sexy man. I reiterate - this book was written just for me.
The tone was so fun. The dialogue was modern without being cringey.
It feels genuinely insane that this book exists. Here are the aspects of it that once again prove this is the perfect Mia read : Haunted Mansion-esque haunted mansions, macabre artefacts, a fun lil romp through a city searching for clues, murder, romance, a character performing Like a Prayer in full Madonna drag, fun costumes, a grieving widow, a prodigal son, a moral of social responsibility and anti-capitalism, ghosts, unsolved crimes of the past haunting the present.
It was an exhilarating and disorientating read. I feel seen in a very peculiar way. Such a good time, just so so fun.
