See You in the Cosmos is a deeply original and touching novel. It tells the story of Alex, a 11-year old but 13-year old in responsibility, who wants to emulate his hero, Carl Sagan, by launching a rocket into space with sounds of Earth. I loved the format of 'recordings' on Alex's Golden iPod, rather than chapters. I loved Alex's voice. Sometimes he was a kid, and sometimes, he was such an adult! While some parts of the plot require a suspension of disbelief, I was more than happy to go along to meet Zed, Steve, Terra, Ronnie and Carl Sagan, the dog, and to travel to New Mexico, Las Vegas, Los Angeles.
This is a great book to introduce kids to the wonders of the universe. It is also a wonderful way to teach them about family, friends, love and sacrifice. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will be recommending it to my little cousins.

I loved this book, about a boy and his dog on a big adventure with a space theme. I was surprised in many places in the story about the fact that this book is aimed at a middle grade audience because of some things the boy goes through.

This audiobook swept me away.
Having picking this completely at random from our school's Sora app, I couldn't stop listening to to Alex's story. The narration was PERFECTION. The full cast added a lot, but the protagonist with his genuine delivery was just heartwarming.
Alex goes on quite the adventure in an effort to launch his golden iPod into space, and along the way he forms his own family from people he meets, connects with, and transforms. Yes, this 11 year old boy just has undeniable power to make others want to be better. Ugh. I just loved listening to him, his humor, his perceptions, and his desire to make others see the good.
This is a great book for middle school students, and I can't wait to recommend it so they can giggle along to it like I did.
Overall: 5/5 stars
I'll tell my students about: mental health issues, trauma, infidelity

Once I saw it in NBS, I just had to get my copy because look at that cover. I judged the book by it's cover and luckily, I liked the story as well. I will do my best to review without spoilers.
I love simple narration and language. I appreciate simplicity and how the author can weave the words into something so adventurous, elegant, and heart-warming. This is why I fell in love with Alex. Alex, the narrator, sees the world as it is. He is smart, mature for his age, and pure. His narration is the recordings he has in his Golden Ipad and you will get the pieces of his complicated life along the way. He brought me with him to his adventures to different places and chapters of his own life, which are all page-turners. I gave this a 4 because I almost cried which means this is a pretty good story on that alone. Alex will change how you look at life. This made me reflect on how I perceive my own struggles lately and this book presented itself to me at the perfect time.

Read this during my forced convalescence. A sweet read about a little boy obsessed with space and the sweet people who helped him and who he helped along the way
