A multilayered gem of a story about space, friendship, family, and growing up. This one will stick with me for awhile.
I totally fell in love with this book, mostly because I feel in love with Alex, our lead character. His voice and character reminds me very much of Oskar in Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. How a young person could maintain such optimism despite adversity is astonishing. I think this is what wins over all the adults around him so that he finally gets the support and assistance he needs.
Absolutely outstanding! I instantly fell for cute Alex, laughed more than I usually do for books, while also feeling such deep emotions. This is such a moving book with a whole bunch of feels. Wonderful!
The full cast audio recording of this was amazing. Better than most podcasts I've listened to, including audio dramas. It's getting really expensive for me to read middle grade fiction, because I pick out the best recommendations and get library (or e-library) copies - then they really ARE the best and I decide I have to buy them for my kids. This was worth an Audible credit, even though I'd already heard it!
I thought this was cute and had lots of deep themes but the ending dragged for me.
