The world building is top-notch, I really enjoyed how the setting was presented. The prose is also very dense and melodramatic perfectly befitting Hadrians character.

Ambitious and far reaching, this is a series that has set a lofty goal. Not the least because of the clear influence from sci fi giants like Dune and thé Book of the New Sun. The story is mostly set up and I wonder how much of the story is from an unrelible narrator like Severian… 
We shall see!  Lots to like but not exactly a ripping yarn.

is entertaining enough to keep me reading on, but the seemingly disconnected jumps between chapters can be a bit much sometimes. hopefully the later books are a little less disjointed.
