Good beach read, Sometimes a bit too kitschy for my liking, especially in word choice. Story was fine, nothing too dramatic. I liked the wild-child trope and how the main characters choice of words (even in thoughts) changed as she changed with her environment

tbh when i started this book i thought i was going to dnf it, but i pushed through and it ended up being a 4 star.

such a classic little romance, except the characters were surprisingly NOT insufferable. Piper was not a ditzy blonde, she was very intuitive actually, and Brendan kept being described as huge and gruff ofc but i really liked his characteristics. except for the fact that every single person was white so diversity was def not there.

there were a lot of things this book did right including conversation (esp. with Hannah love her), asking for consent (which is still important even if you think they’ll say yes), and even helping the elderly (although frickin Abe at the end caused the entire conflict lmao)

i wouldn’t say this book had a miscommunication troupe, it was more like bad timing.
before brendan was waiting for her at the dock and she fell, i KNEW that was going to happen bc they made the whole ultimatum. just waiting for an old man to delay their little chat. anyways

i wasn’t actually going to find book two, but fox is intriguing so catch me reading that soon as well. props to tessa bailey for a rather good romance, one that definitely exceeded my expectations. also he called her baby v frequently, and yet i didn’t vomit. props tessa.

trigger warnings
although not many… death, little drug abuse, explicit but consensual sex, tell me if i missed one
