Cute lil palate cleanser romance.
Of course the story is cheesy and predictable, but it had just the right ingredients for me: a seaside fishing town setting, a grumpy bearded fisherman love interest, Piper’s character development through growing a real sense of community, great sibling relationship, talk about the ocean, and that first smut scene…

As often is my problem with romance, I got bored in the second half. Now we have drama instead of fun flirting, the guy is like ridiculously in love with her after knowing her for a month (maybe chill for a minute and let the poor girl live?), and the finale really was cringe. I would have preferred more funny scenes and banter instead of the insta-love.

Tropes: Grumpy-sunshine opposites attract romance between a rich influencer (FMC) and a grumpy deep sea fisherman.

At first I really did not like the FMC and found her selfish and vapid, but her personal growth and character development were both very deep. The MMC was someone I liked from the start - his stoic, practical, routine-driven personality was appealing.  I did not buy the InstaLove here, but the relationship gradually became more believable as it unfolded.

The sexual content in this was absolutely gratuitous and took a lot away from the story. I skimmed / skipped it all.

If you love the Alexis Rose arc on Schitt’s Creek then you’ll love this book. And, the sex is SOOOO HOT.

This book was such a cute and enjoyable read! Seeing Piper’s world turn upside down when she’s told to move back to her childhood home town with her sister, after a reckless decision that ended up with her in jail, was very amusing. Seeing this trip turn from unwanted to eye opening was such a cute journey. She grows closer with her sister, grows a connection to her father and his family, makes unlikely friends with the townsfolk and finds unsuspecting love.

It’s just such a good read. It balances meaningful relationships and character develop with spice and laughable moments. Seeing Piper and Brendan grow for each other is wonderful, and makes these characters so lovable. It could be easy to lose Piper’s likability to a stereotype but her party girl tendencies are likable, not cringeworthy. The one issue I have with this book is how the author presents herself on social media. The first time I read this book I didn’t think anything came off as creepy or pervy, but after watching the author’s TikToks I can’t help but Think about her when I read the book.
