I thoroughly enjoyed the first hundred or so pages of this book. The banter felt fresh and the jokes were funny. I loved that Piper was allowed to be more than just the dumb LA party girl that’s everyone believed she was. She was brave and she wasn’t letting crap slide.

However, everything started to feel a little trope-y past the halfway mark. Brendan was way too intense for my tastes, the conflicts were predicable, and the wrap up read like a Hallmark movie. I had such high hopes based off the beginning and I’m sad the rest of the book dragged and didn’t live up to my expectations.

OMG I almost forgot, I hope to never read another romance with constant references to a character’s “male-ness.” This book definitely beat a record for how many times a read “male” outside of a medical or animal setting.

I understand the hype behind Tessa Bailey’s books now.

It Happened One Summer is a perfect mix of Schitts Creek and Canadian East Coast culture, as a Canadian thats the best way to describe this lovely book.

This book was so cute and I did really like the storyline a lot more than I thought I would. The main male mc was incredible and very well written. I loved the character development. It was a little cliché and the plot was a little obvious but i went into it knowing that and expecting that which helped my rating. The spice is also amazing in this book!

Cute rom-com book. The characters were lovable. I forgot how much I love Tessa Bailey’s writing!! I thought the relationship moved very fast and the small internal battles were resolved quickly. Overall, a cute summer read 💕

Really enjoyed the plot, spice, and Piper's narration. I thought Brendan was a bit plain as his personality was just fishing and being strong/ tall. Nonetheless it was good.
