“I never intended to let you go.”
I almost never cry in books, but this book is one of the exceptions.
From chapter 1, I knew what was going to happen at the end, but traveling there with 30-something year old Satoru and the formally stray cat, Nana, was worth it. In this heartwarming and oftentimes humorous tale, they take you on a journey throughout Japan, from Mount Fiji to the ocean to the fields of wildflowers.
The themes of love, loss, and family are shown through the eyes of Satoru, Nana, and his friends as they explore Japan and Satoru's past. While my favorite perspective was always sassy Nana, I enjoyed all the character's points of view that were shared and how they all tied together.
"Life, be it human or feline, doesn’t always work out the way you think it will."
