I have this from when I was a kid. It holds up pretty well even now. Simple, but well-researched and a good story.

A charming book about a dog adopted by wolves learning to fit in. I loved this book as a kid. While it doesn't hold up to my rose colored nostalgia its still a sweet story. I wish it were actually more detailed and fleshed out but alas it is a children's novel.

This was another wolf/dog book I read when I was younger. It's not quite as amazing as I had remembered it being, but it's still one that I'll probably keep reading again.

This book is about a husky dog, Granite, that runs away and is adopted by a wolf pack. While the matriarch of the pack cares about Granite, the rest of the pack is not too thrilled to have him around.

One thing that bothers me about this one is the lack of really engrossing plot points. For example, there are some good elements of danger for Granite and the wolf pack to overcome, but I never really felt any of them were in REAL danger. The world just isn't fleshed out enough to really make you feel a lot.

While this book is poor at building a solid world for Granite and the Wolf pack, it's still is really good at telling a story without dialogue. I'll have to hand it that.

The story of a dog who runs away to the wild and ends up living with wolves. It’s difficult to get to know the characters and to empathise with them, as the animals do not speak to each other. This results in their adventures feeling like they are just being recited to you rather than experienced. It seems as though the author wasn’t quite sure who she was writing for – she seemed to want to avoid a typical children's talking animal story, but at the same time the writing is far too juvenile for it to be aimed at adults. There are also some factual errors (it’s clear from the author’s note that she doesn’t understand taxonomy).

What a great story!

Was very straight forward, but a cute book if you love dogs and wolves. The plot was a little sketchy, but it was an easy read so it is easy to forgive that. Conflict was very broad but i still loved it.

I read this as a kid and remember reading it over and over again! I'm not re-reading it as an adult as I'm sure my rating would change, but my younger self would no doubt give 5 stars!

I really enjoyed this as a kid. It was one of my favorites.

I tried re-reading as an adult, and I could hardly get through it. It's too simplistic, and pretty boring after you already know what happens.

I would suggest this for kids, though; they will love it.

I loved this book so much as a kid that it inspired me to write my first fanfiction, before I even knew what the word "fanfiction" meant. Yes, there were pictures. And the "Chiller" font. Ahhh, the 90s.
