Good thriller, fast paced plot, interesting twists- I just felt that the characters were flat

Rewind is the story of Natalie, an Instagram influencer who impulsively leaves her husband, and is murdered while the owner of the cottage where she is staying watches online. Lots of men behaving badly and plenty of opportunities for red herrings galore. The actual murderer took me by surprise, although it is a rather common trope. An interesting set up and structure. I loved Audrey, the determined journalist who helped solve this case. My take home was to check for hidden cameras and not post too much on line!

This book felt so lazily written to me. I felt like so many chapters and point of views were so unnecessary. I think she could have stuck with just 2 and it would have been much better. Every God damn character had a backstory and honestly, I don't think most of them were necessary.

Not to mention using the pedophilia as a cheap shock factor. It was completely unnecessary and she could have used LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE for the same purpose. But no. Just let someone get exactly 50% through the book and just randomly drop it with just enough detail to make you feel ill. It was cheap and disgusting. And honestly just fucking lazy.

The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the concept was ok and the writing wasn't completely atrocious. Execution, not so good.

I honestly wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. There a better thrillers out there.
