If you’re easily annoyed by stereotypes and assumptions- DO NOT READ THIS. I was irritated until about chapter 60.

Tegan has found herself heavily pregnant with a wealthy man’s baby, of which he wants no part. When her deal with the father goes south, she hits the road to visit her brother in the middle of a snowstorm. Her brakes go out and Tegan finds herself injured and stranded in a snowy ditch. That is until Hank shows up, who brings Tegan home to his wife Polly with promises to bring her to the hospital once the snow lets up. Polly quickly becomes obsessed with the baby that Tegan is carrying, making it much harder for Tegan to escape the hands of her saviors.

This book did not do it for me at all. It is the second McFadden book that I have read, and just like The Housemaid I found this very lackluster. The story line was so repetitive for the majority of the book- they went through the same situations and thought processes every day. The beginning and ending of this book were totally out of left field and were so disconnected from the main storyline of the book. They were simply there to try and shock the reader into a reaction, but instead only had me disappointed. The entire time that I was reading this book I was thinking that this is just a bad Misery knockoff and was glad to see other reviews also have that opinion.

The pro for me was just how easy this book was to get through. I flew through this, which I do find myself doing more with thrillers. I was going through a serious reading slump and this has effectively pulled me out of it, for which I am extremely grateful. It was a quick read, but not anything that I would recommend.
