Junk food for my brain. I liked this book, I honestly couldn’t put it down from the moment I began reading- but DAMN the main character is naive!

Tegan hearing her unborn baby’s voice inside her head was a little weird. There were so many frustrating assumptions, but I guess there wouldn’t have been much of a story without. I didn’t see the twists at the end coming, but I see how they happened.

Another page-turner, but the last quarter or so of the book was disappointing. We spend so much of the book focused on one point of the plot that it felt like the author was trying to make earlier moments relevant again without doing the work to properly incorporate them into the plot. It was just...unsatisfying. And fairly predictable. The two POVs we get most of the book were also painfully inconsistent in their decisionmaking, which felt more like plot service than actual development of character or true motivations. A mediocre read but at least it went quickly and wasn't blatantly awful.
