I picked up 'Fright Forest' at the library whilst waiting for my children to choose some books. The illustrations ( Illustrated by Pete Williamson ) initially grabbed my attention and as I started to read, I realised just how much they compliment this amazing adventure.

I love Elf Girl and Raven Boy. I love the story. I love the illustrations. I love everything about this book.

Raven boy with his tree climbing, amazing night vision and ability to talk to animals is a perfect friend for Elf Girl, who is tiny, elfin, can hide most spectacularly ( seriously, she'd ROCK at hide and seek ) and has a magic bow. Together they face ogres, trolls and witches as they travel through the fright forest, determined to find family and save their world. Things get creepy and spooky... but not too much!

Oh and let's not forget Rat! Rat is an awesome ally!

So glad this is the first of a series, I can't wait to read the rest of them. I know my children will love this series too. And I'm really looking forward to reading some to the children at school next term.

Good. I really want to know their real names though.
