Another revisit of a childhood favorite that holds up well. I really enjoyed the narrative envelope device as well as the use of oral storytelling. The denouement was a little too tidy for my adult tastes, but all in all a quick and sweet book.

I had to read this book for school. Made me tear up a little. This book has amazing characterization, loveable characters, and a great plot. A++

I remember reading this book as a kid over and over and loving the road trip story line and quirky characters. I do NOT remember sobbing my eyes out at how grief and loss are woven into the fabric of the story, but well, I sure did that today. This is a really beautiful book.

*I'd be interested to read an analysis of how Indian folklore and customs are discussed in this book because it feels very romanticized, but I don't know enough to speak with any authority on that aspect.
