Friends have to read this for class and I acted as the audiobook for one of them, thereby reading the book as well. Fun story, kids probably love it because rabbits are cute. My biggest question is about the scarecrow, since when do they have shoes? And is Peter's previous clothing also a scarecrow now?
I need to say, fuck gender norms because of course Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail are implied to be girls who are "very nice" and listen to their mother while Peter is naughty and goes on an adventure which is so much more interesting than picking berries! And all that happens to him is that he doesn't feel so well in the evening and sleeps? Not that bad in my opinion. The illustrations were very cute and I was fascinated with the size of Mr. McGregor's hands.
