This novella really hit almost all the notes for me. A work of historic-ish fiction incorporating the author's academic research into the novel. The horses of Mongolia and Iceland, my two favorite sorts of horses in the world. And a realistically diverse and deep representation of the diversity of the ancient world. A brief sojourn into the importance of words and language. Pretty much everything you could ask for in a novella.
