Loved this focus on women and their efforts during WW2–a perspective I haven’t read about yet. This was emotional and action-packed. Amazing character arcs. I always love a father redemption story. The flashing forward was a bit confusing to me at the beginning…and maybe not necessary. However, the big reveal in that final chapter was so gripping and perfect.

This was a beautiful read and I couldn't let go of the book in the last chapters.
I know it's a work of fiction, but when it depicts something so absolutely heartbreaking, at times almost unbearable to read, I don't want to give out an opinion - I feel like it doesn't really matter.

The last six words of the book are absolutely beautiful, as is the rest of it of course - although beautiful is not the word I'd choose. It'll stay in my head and in my heart a while.

Wow! What an emotional roller coaster. I have a love/hate relationship with historical fiction because it’s so raw and sad to think about but also it is so wonderful that someone wanted to preserve the good parts of something so terrible that happened in our history. People daring to rebel against such terror is so inspiring and something we should never forget.

The book began breaking my heart half way through and did not stop though the very last word. Gut wrenching and frequently thrilling - I was lost in the worth of WW2 and the pain of what so many endured.

I feel like this book shows the duality of humans well. The good that you can find even in the bad. And the strength an resiliency we can find in ourselves in the harshest circumstances.

I cannot recommend enough - but only if you are emotionally prepared to get a really good cry in.
