When I say there are some top tier quotes in this book πŸ‘ŒπŸΏπŸ‘ŒπŸΏπŸ‘ŒπŸΏ

I've been in the mood for books and series that have a lot of lore, or that feeling that there are a lot of threads and easter eggs that I can put together and this is that. With lots of dips into mythology, and so many mysteries going on around the actual history of the magic in the world, this book is one where I KNOW I'm gonna be reading a later book and pieces from book one are gonna snap satisfyingly into place. I love how you can see how much Elsey's sefl-perception has been impacted by the rumors and insults around/about her. I love a jackass, so Henery's my other favorite character. We don't talk about the grumpy/jackass pairing enough. I absolutely love him and Elsey. Absolutely cannot wait for book 2!

3 stars - I liked it

I had no idea what was going on for a good chunk of the beginning, but I needed to know so I kept going and oh my, we only touched the surface, this world has so many possibilities in it. Elsey & Henry are my faves. Just as I thought we were gonna get answers, we got a cliffhanger! And now I have to wait for answers!
