The terrific triad in trouble! A betrayal of trust that breaks open all the secrets, insecurities , wishes of all three. A satisfying conclusion ?) to the wonderful series of Will, Hugh, and Truman.

Whooo boy when I saw the synopsis I had a sinking feeling and I had no idea how KR would salvage this relationship after ze broke it. But DAMN their relationship grew so much. The emotional payoff in this book is so worth it. What a fantastic conclusion to the series!
This book broke me and then put me back together - wonderful characters, amazing writing. As the culmination of the Scientific Method series it was perfect.

5 stars for the SMU series
Review for the entire Scientific Method Universe series. I mean, this is just a really excellent series/multiverse of books, short stories, crossovers by Kris Ripper about a triad relationship and their friends and families. The central relationship is Hugh | Will | Truman. The series is a masterclass of relationships and exploring all the intricacies of life. With a fair amount of kink.
There are a couple of books that are quote/unquote not my favorite but they aren't throwaway reads they each add to the overall arc of the narrative and the complexity of relationships (all relationships). And the books that fall in the "not my favorite" are because of very greedy Becs specific things like "there's not enough Hugh |Will | Truman." ;) All of the books cleverly examine and process power dynamics, fantasies, misunderstandings, communication and miscommunication, wants, desires, needs, anxiety, romance, love, betrayal, trust, depression, hope - it has everything.
After reading the final book I immediately dipped back into the first book Catalysts and can see the small moments, the seemingly throwaway lines said by characters that will weave throughout the series building to a crisis point and breakthrough. It is so good. And with nine books plus how many(?) short stories and freebies, I want to read it all again.

I never read this book the first time I ploughed through the series, because 1) I didn't want it to be over, and 2) the title really frightened me. And yes, it was painful, but the payoff was so, so good, and I'm really happy I finally went through with it. This series is really something else.
This series...didn’t exactly sneak up on me, because I enjoyed it from the beginning, but it did continue to surprise me. This isn’t written like a traditional romance series (and it isn’t a traditional romance), but I was intensely moved by my emotional connections to these characters. The psychology, the communication, and the intelligence throughout the series is masterful. I *love* that the characters learn and explore more about themselves at the same time as the reader, and that the novels get more intense as the characters’ relationships mature and evolve.
I hit 5 stars immediately upon finishing, bc ald;kjafl;kjaf;;lafkj FLAIL.
It's quintessential Kris Ripper with so many feels, and angst and everything important for these characters.
