I had to read this for a bookclub. I’d read the wall of Winnipeg and was already hesitant. All my fears were confirmed a few chapters in but I had to power through. Reading about a grown ass middle aged man with zero emotional intelligence and maturity was extremely painful. The quadruple hand embarrassment was real. Who are we meant to root for? I want to say I may have enjoyed this when I was younger and maybe more naive but that would be a lie. This story was giving toddler/preschool interactions. Except I can forgive babies but a a grown ass man? But he’s a middle aged white man so I guess it’s okay….
I’m not even going to touch all the weird racist “flirting”

4.8 ⭐️ (I feel like it’s a 5 now but in 2 days I may calm down some but wow I loved this book)
WOW. First, why did it take me so long to read this? This book was LONG. 542ish pages. But the entire time? I was hooked.
Sports romance but it was so much more than that. The plot was giving. I felt connected to Sal and was rooting for her for the entire course of the book.
I will say… I’m not a huge fan of the age-gap trope and there were times I chose to ignore it but that’s just my personal preference.
At the end of the day (or in first hours of the morning since it’s almost 2am), I really enjoyed this book and will likely reread it in the future. I will DEFINITELY be reading more from this author.

This book has NO BUSINESS being so good. It’s just pure fun. Great characters, funny, and there is actually character development. If you love rom coms, especially sports rom coms, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!!!
liked the slow burn, liked the tension, but it wasn't really anything that stood out to me. not the book for me, though i know it is for many- and i do love that for y'all, even when i don’t love it for me
This was such a slow burn I almost died..
1st kiss at almost 400 pages down fuck me!
But it was needed to be like that... The story demanded it to not be rushed..
Loved how their relationship unfolded
