funny lighthearted slow-paced

I found this book to be very redundant and a struggle to get through. I feel like I read the same few parts multiple times. Lots of fluff. The last 70 or so pages were the best part of the book.

I’m gonna have to stop reading this author’s books. This was the equivalent of a 90s Lifetime movie, just not as good. I will say the b-plot was more interesting, but it wasn’t given enough to breathe.
I found the characters one dimensional and almost childlike which was weird given the subject material.

I give five star ratings to books that teach me a major life lesson, move me beyond a normal range of reading emotions, or have such high entertainment value, they can’t be denied. I can’t say that All About Evie hit any of those marks, HOWEVER... they hit them for me, on a personal level. This is signature Cathy Lamb, with quirky characters, strong women, and almost a random, stream of consciousness feeling to it. That method of storytelling may not appeal to some readers, but as one whose brain works just that way, I fell right into the rhythm of it, and appreciate it deeply.

Also appreciated - the wink and nod to Lamb’s earlier books; the descriptions of luscious cakes and pies (I read this in a day and a half, and gained a pound!); the loving description of the island and the town; gentle awareness of current events and human rights.

Not all of my friends and family who read my reviews will understand my five star rating... this one is for me.

Thanks to Net Galley and the author for the Advanced Reader Copy.

I love Cathy Lamb's writing, and this book just reestablished her place in my list of favorite authors. Evie has a gift of premonition, a gift which can be a nightmare when she can't intervene to change the future. Raised by a loving couple, and two quirky aunts, Evie still feels like something is missing in her life. A complicated character, Evie is a strong woman despite her depression and anxiety which can haunt her. I love the female characters in the book, the magical realism, and the warmth and love. Highly recommend for an enjoyable and hopeful read, coming at a good time. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I reread this book and originally rated it 5 stars. This time 2 star. Lol This book is sooooo wordy. It describes every room, house, memory, everything. Even in between dialogue. Pages and pages of it.
The plot itself is great and there are emotional parts of the book but it just was a lot.

This was a fun book - other than the prison chapters which were horrible. I skimmed those.

In Cathy Lamb's _All About Evie_, she. weaves a story of Evie Lindsay's search for her own idenity and past. Set in the San Juan Islands, Evie runs a bookstore of sorts where each day is matched with a dessert of the day and herbal teas and many interesting patrons. But unassuming bookseller is not quite what Evie is. She is blessed with premonitions or cursed with them depending on the premonition . She lives next to her mother and her aunts who add a lively quirky and funny element to the story. There are multiple storylines within the book, from how Evie acts upon her premonitions, to how she can avoid the temporary new sheriff in town, to her one true love, But the main storyline is Evie's past and her search for answers. This book was an unexpected pleasure to read. At first it was quite confusing as to where it was going, but after the first few chapters I was intrigued on how it would all unwind in the end. If you are looking for a book unlike any you've read, pick this one up
