I enjoyed this well told story. We meet Evie who owns the island bookshop and her quirky mother, mother, sister and aunts. Evie also has the gift of premonitions. The burden of seeing these things har happen in the future is sometimes overwhelming for Evie become a barrier to her living her true life. This story made me both laugh and cry as it examined relationships, fears, guilt and seeking truths.
I didn't really like it, and then I started liking it, and in the end it is really just a 2.5 for me. I hated the sister (CAN WE PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT SEX WHEN REFERRING TO YOUR SO). At one point I expected that in the end he was abusive, and that is why he was "only great in bed". There were some other things that really bothered me too, but the story line of Betsy was the thing that kept me going. You can't have it all. But I wouldn't recommend this to anyone really, unless you want to read about a topic specifically mentioned in this book. Like hats. Or weed. Or sexy vets.
Whimsical, exciting, and fun! It’s a feel good book that makes you laugh and smile. This is a spring or summer book for anyone that’s ready to start fresh!
All About Evie was such a great read! I absolutely loved the quirky characters, especially the main character Evie. Reading through her point of view was so fun and different; her love of animals, books, and desserts, and the way she thinks, was so entertaining. She has such a simple and sweet way of thinking and her gift/curse of having premonitions helped shape her so perfectly. I have always been fascinated with premonitions, deja vu, and dreams coming true, so I gobbled this all up eagerly. The other characters in the novel were also created and shared wonderfully, there was such a variety of personalities with spot-on traits and actions. Being a big fan of reading about families and psychological and sociological subject matters, I was thrilled to read about the hereditary link of Evie’s gift/curse and even more so of the DNA test and results that Evie and her sister took. There is so much to this book, with so many layers and inner stories (that I haven’t even touched upon), yet everything is all tied together so perfectly and creatively. This was such a delightful, easy, and fun read!
This book grabs you from the beginning. It’s beautiful cover and exciting opening chapter pull you in. Evie loves book and her family. She can also see the future. She uses the premonitions to help save people but she is also haunted by premonitions about her own future that are not very bright.
Evie is a very interesting character. She gives herself to help everyone either through her premonitions or helping them find new books in her bookstore. I love to read so this trait was extremely interesting for me. Evie has very interesting aunts that keep her on her toes and I loved them. They added so much to the story with their antics. This is a great book and I highly recommend it!

Oh dear this gave me the feels. It took a bit of time to get use to the style of writing, something was rather...child like about it. I'm not saying it was bad or anything against the author! It just had a naivete about it.
The book was amazing, I love all the stories interlacing. Some made me happy, some made me mad, I cried big time a few times. Love a book that makes me feel something!!

I would not personally read anything else by Cathy Lamb. I feel like I definitely

This book is extremely repetitive, like the amount if flowers growing in garden and types if flowers and bouquets was too much. Not for me. Starts promising and dies after page 50.

Nice story with endearing characters. You really feel like you’re a part of the island (I kind of want to live on an island now). HOWEVER, the whole book (and it’s not super short) is just constant repetition. Constant. And it’s repetition of the mundane, tiny details that are not vital to the storyline. Think 2 pages detailing how the character’s animal wakes her up in the morning. Repeated 13 times throughout the book. The only thing getting me to keep reading was Betsy’s POV and the promise of the actual storyline that was advertised in the description of the book. Nothing “happens” until the last 1/5 of the book. And then, after all the great detail that the rest of the book was written with, she literally just throws the big stuff out there with almost NO detail at all. Just slaps it in the back of the book and calls it a day. And I’m just sitting here with ??? hanging over my head. Honestly, knowing how it went, I’d just look up the plot and skip reading the book again.
