I, too, am one of John’s duplicitous sluts ✨✨✨
Wow. What a book. What a range. Muir’s writing is so impressive not only with its perfect balance of tone throughout the book, but also with being able to craft such a story. My brain hurts.
Ofc there are bits I wish were explained more but I trust either all will be answered in Alecto or it was lost on Nona’s pov.
May I just say

Three down, One two go. How heartbreaking is that 💔

🦴

Out of the three books from the locked tomb series, Nona is the most different. So different you could almost believe it was set in another universe. While Gideon and Harrow the ninth were very obviously SFF, this volume mainly felt like a dystopian SF book.

But the setting was not the only thing that felt different, the atmosphere of the book also was. It was amusing and simpler due to the MC’s innocence and inexperience with living in society. It’s as if we were in the mind of a baby who got birthed as an adult which led to so many fun interactions, situations and reflections. Along with her, we discovered in more depth two characters: Pyrrha and Camilla. We could also refer to them as Nona’s Mom and sister ahah

Nona said ‘That’s okay. I love you.’ And that’s exactly how I feel about all of them. I might miss the old characters, Gideon and Harrow, but Nona and all the other characters live in my heart.

🦴

Once again, Tamsyn successfully managed to surprise me. The structure of the book was so interesting and it really added to the book to see those ‘unidentified’ chapters of dreams between John and an unknown MC. We have two storylines going on, one from the “present” of Nona and another of the past, when the planet earth was still alive and John became God.

Sometimes, I did feel like the book was a bit confusing. Tamsyn made us discover the history of her world by giving us some pieces and letting us draw the conclusions.

Sadly, I’m not smart enough for this and, fortunately, Reddit users are! That’s after reading their explanations and theories that the true genuineness of this author really dawned on me and I love her for this.

🦴

I am both excited and a bit sad there is only one book left to discover, but maybe it also means new projects for other books or series!
