I enjoyed the overall premise of this book. The multigenerational friendship, the dual time line love stories, and the road-trip through the southern US laid the groundwork for a heartfelt, funny and endearing story. There were a lot of parts that were genuinely sweet and funny, but sometimes the author’s characterization of Millie and Hollis was way too quirky. The entire time I felt like Millie was just the adult version that one weird friend from every early aughts Disney show that dressed in too many layers and had a hyper fixation on something random like jewelry made of fruit. And Hollis is basically just season 1 Jughead from the Riverdale. Except he wrote in a spiral bound notebook instead of on a typewriter. Truly the background love story was more interesting and I wish the author could have made Millie and Hollis’s just as good.

This book has been on my TBR for AGES!!! I finally bit the bullet and boy did it deliver. This book is quirky, lighthearted, and funny but also reflective and a story on unrequited love. It’s more complex than most other rom-coms. There were parts where I was royally pissed off at the character but it all worked out in the end. I recommend! I look forward to reading her next book

Cute and charming, but they fell in love way too quickly in my opinion

this book gripped me by the throat and would not unhand me for days after I finished it. I laughed, I sobbed. Molly is my baby I love and adore her so much. I loved the way the present and past were weaved together without feeling out of place. definitely one of my favorites of the year!

Picked this up at the library on a whim and finished it in one evening. The story itself was sweet but the story it’s wrapped around made me cry big sobs and my heart just clenched. Also had solid 70’s music references. As a very weird extrovert into that era of music, I related to Millie so much.

I think the fact that I read this twice in a year speaks for itself. Hilarious, romantic, road trip fun — what more could you want?
