Like most DC comics I feel like I missed about a solid 60% of what was going on here. I finished the entirely of the New 52 Wonder Woman hoping that I wouldn’t need to have read anything else but apparently I should have also read Superman/Wonder Woman (yuck) as well.
Steve Trevor is in it and a whole bunch of people I have no idea about because they just seemed to have appeared out of nowhere and the reader was expected to know who they were. It’s probably explained in other issues or volumes or whatever but I didn’t expect that since this is volume one and not like the third volume.
I’m gonna have to write up an ordered list of superhero comics because this is getting ridiculous!

I don't think the D.C. Rebirth series is for me. Oversexualized characters, art that changes style from frame to frame. Can we please just have a woman superhero that is not defined by her ample bosoms and shorty shorts?!?

I am having so much fun getting into Wonder Woman's story. I hope to continue on soon.

I don't think this was the right place to start reading Wonder Woman comics. Whoops. I still enjoyed seeing Diana in action, but wasn't quite sure about the Leopard lady. The art wasn't my favorite, except for the panels showing Steve and Diana on a beautiful beach.
I read this in part to satisfy my 2017 Book Riot Read Harder Challenge - "Read a superhero comic with a female lead."

I've read the single issues in order, so I've actually read The Lies and Year One simultaneously.[b:Wonder Woman, Volume 2: Year One|31616114|Wonder Woman, Volume 2 Year One|Greg Rucka|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1488393558s/31616114.jpg|52294566]
It is my first time reading Wonder Woman and it got better and better. I'm looking forward to read more!!! I really liked it, I wasn't expecting much, and the series surprised and really got me.
You can read each of the volumes without reading the other, but the Year One arc provides background and I'd recommend reading it. The numbering might seem confusing (even and odd numbers divided in the two volumes), but it is really not. And if you get confused, just read one arc and then the other. Easy peasy.
This volume contains the folowing issues: Rebirth, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11.

Some very good stuff in here - solid writing, great artwork, but sometimes it's a bit off, or wasn't as engaging as it could have been. Promising start, though, to the Rebirth series.

Blog | Twitter | Instagram | A copy of this comic was provided through NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way.
A massive improvement from the last issue I read from the DC Universe Rebirth sets. Oh, fine--I'm a total cliche and a sucker for anything Wonder Woman. I love my bad-ass leading ladies and am here for the dramatic and action packed issues that comics are known for. This is one of my favourite spins on Wonder Woman in terms of the graphics. I loved flipping through the pages and seeing the glorious drawings come to life in real colours. I cannot praise it enough for the artwork.
You know the type of work that makes you swoon? That's what you will find in this little guy. I am 98% sure I spent the entire time consumed by the desire to swoon at every page. Which would be awkward if it wasn't understanding, right? Right?! Just nod along with me, okay? Wonder Woman, Vol. 1: The Lies wasn't the strongest in terms of the actual story telling but it was definitely better than the last DC release I picked up (Justice League, Volume 1: The Extinction Machines) and a quick read that is worthy of admiration.

What started off as a very promising read turned out to be an unfortunately disappointing one. While the artwork, the colourings and the illustrations, were really beautiful and close to my personal taste, the story lacked depth, development and originality. Even Diana herself - one of my all time favourite comic book characters - had no character development; in fact she barely had any character at all. Overall, a very mediocre, forgettable volume.

This was not good. Did I need to read Greg Rucka's previous Wonder Woman run for any of this to make sense? As I was reading, I couldn't help but feel that it was incomplete. The beginning isn't a beginning and the story jumps around too much while other plot points are just random: Why would Cheetah know where Themyscira is? Was she just there to give Diana a run in with Steve? And don't even get me started on the relationships. Uff da.
I just saw somewhere that this volume has all the odd numbered issues and another volume has the even numbered issues. Why?!?! That makes absolutely no sense.
Recommendations for a better Wonder Woman comic?
