After really enjoying Strange Pictures,  I was genuinely excited to read this next installment. The concept alone was intriguing to me: a layered mystery centered around house plans.

While strange pictures thrived on the interactive element of interpreting various images, Strange Houses fails to capture that same sense of discovery. Instead of building on the puzzle solving aspect of the first book, it relied too heavily on somewhat implausible additions to the house plans. And for the mystery, it did not unfold gradually, rather everything seemed to come from far fetched assumptions and convoluted character narratives all at once. A letdown to me that lacked the inventiveness and fun of Strange Pictures.

Another addictive mystery from Uketsu, though I found this one to be less satisfying than Strange Pictures - the reveal was ultimately a bit silly but I still enjoyed unraveling the mystery as it progressed.
