⍛ ◗ OWNED BY A SINNER [Sinners #2] ◖ ⍛

The novel begins by introducing the readers to Liam Byrne, a fellow member of the Priesthood and the head of the Irish crime family. Liam seems troubled by the constant breach of territory by the Sicilians while tackling another problem in the name of Finn Byrne, his younger step-brother.

Owen Byrne re-marries a woman by the name of Gemma after the death of his first wife, Patricia. Owen then goes on to legally adopt Finn, then 17, hence, legally giving him the Byrne surname. All this somehow makes Finn dream of having an opportunity at heading the Byrne business, which is further fuelled by Owen’s attempt to create a sense of competition between the brothers, all the while knowing that he'd of course, make his own blood, Liam the heir.

While all this takes place, we're also given an insight into the intriguing past of the female lead, Kiara Murphy & how fate deals a card which puts her straight on the path to a dangerous mob boss.

Tropes:-
▫ Boss-employee.
▫ Age-gap romance. [H:39 & h:24]

For a change, Kiara doesn't hate Liam's identity as the head of mafia, nor does she fight their attraction. Both leads are quite forthcoming and not a least bit shy. The previous book focused more on the family dynamics which influences the relationship of the leads. Here, the situations which they face puts the leads on the road to realisation of their feelings. Author's writing is beautiful, cannot wait to read all of her other works!

Owned by a Sinner is flat. The idea is promising. The writing is decent at the beginning, but then the romantic feeling developed too fast and the plot became cheesy.

Kiera and Liam's characters never grow. It seems they are stuck in a flat boring story line.

I enjoyed it. It was a quick short read. I'm not the biggest fan of age gaps though I do love a grumpy sunshine. I do wish there would have been a little more mafia conflict but overall not bad.
