This book is a pure delight. I enjoyed the very secret society of irregular witches, but this one is even better.

This book features a magical inn, a wacky cast of characters, and a dash of tender romance, but it is also about  being accepted for who you are, overcoming adversity, and protecting the ones you love. It is smart, whimsical, and has great banter throughout. Although this novel has heartwarming vibes, it also covers important topics (immigration, absent parents , disabilities, mental illness) and also has a very compelling villain. There is also great autistic representation.

I also loved the romance between headstrong Sera and steely Luke. I was absolutely gushing. This story is so much more than the romance but the romance delivers.

I won’t be able to find enough superlatives to fully articulate how much I love this book! It is the best book! It’s fucking perfect!

So cute, warm, and bursting with love. This is even better than TVSSOIW. Yes, really! I’m obsessed with every character. What stood out above everything to me is how tenderly Mandanna writes neurodiverse and disabled characters. I was not expecting to cry over people buying dozens of toothbrushes, as a one liner—not even a major plot point or whole scene!

This book is beautiful. Please read it. Then hug your skeletal rooster.

I did not expect to give this such a high rating when I started listening, but WOW the emotions! I cried and laughed and fell in love with everyone at Batty Hole - I didn't want to leave ❤

Amazing narration by Samara MacLaren - fantastic accents and a calming voice!

Just like “The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches,” this story was beautiful, touching, diverse, and enchanting. I loved the characters. I loved the plot. One of the best cozy fantasy books out there.

I thought the Secret Irregular Society was incredible, but this book made me cry so many times. The autistic representation is SO good. Luke’s struggles were so incredibly relatable as someone who is also the big neurodivergent sibling to a profoundly autistic little sibling, and every time it came up, I sobbed.  Sangu Mandanna’s an auto-buy author from now on. I hope there are more books like this coming. They’re sweet, romantic, and hopeful, and I love knowing that that everything will be okay in the end. (I do think the ending made a ton of sense for the story and character and don’t have the same animosity toward it that others seem to—to be honest, I think it HAD to end the way it did, from a writer’s point of view, and would have been inconsistent otherwise.)

This is a beautiful book with delightful characters, a well paced and imaginative plot and so much heart. Written with grace and humor I was entertained and enraptured the entire time, invested in the characters and transported into their world. I love the tapestry of abilities and disabilities, challenges and strengths and different experiences of family woven through the main characters. It brings authenticity, beauty and richness to the text.
