This was a lovely, cozy magic book to break up the insanity of romantasy I feel like I’ve been drowning in. Does it push any boundaries, do anything new, or go to a unique place? No— it is still a simple, warm magic hug that is perfect for people wanting something cute.

At the start of this book, things were a little too saccharine and convenient. But it mellowed out and gained enough stakes to be really lovely. An easy, delightful read.

A bit spoilery:

A witch Loses most of her power as a child. Grows up and runs an inn. Searches for ways to restore her power. Finds strength in other things.

Excellent cast of characters. Including a skeletal chicken.

A good bit of very descriptive physical relationship stuff toward the end. The sex did not add to the plot.
